Nokia 3600 slide is one of those handsets which no one seems to covet, love and lust but

everybody ends up buying or having. It's a straightforward guess that a S40 handset of subdued but comfortable styling and sufficient skill will simply go around. Catering to the mid range is by no means an easy task. Affordability goes without saying, but you won't do without personality. How do you set your goods apart without ending up with a niche product? Last but not least, yesterday's high-enders are getting cheaper, to make the utterly overcrowded midrange extra unfriendly.
Those are the kind of issues for Nokia 3600 slide to tackle and it chooses to do so by focusing on imaging. The 16M-color screen, 3 megapixel autofocus camera, VGA video and TV-out are the only goodies that are a bit too haughty for the midrange. The rest is plain and simple stuff that comes by the handful. The 200 euro package includes an audio player, FM radio, stereo Bluetooth, EDGE and expandable memory, all on the fit and reliable S40 platform. The smooth slider casing and neat looks round it all off.
It does come out as a comprehensive feature set, but 3G would've really made it hard to resist. The 3600 slide still has enough to keep us busy, so let's get down to it. Unboxing and hardware inspection are this small jump away.

3 Scandinavia and Ericsson to launch Europe’s first 21 Mbps network in 2009

Ericsson announced today that it has partnered with 3 Scandinavia in order to launch what will be Europe’s first 21 Mbps mobile broadband network.
Reportedly, 3 Scandinavia and Ericsson are working together to upgrade the current HSPA networks that 3 owns in Sweden and Denmark. In consequence, select regions from the two countries will benefit from the new and ultra-speedy network starting the first half of 2009.
3 was also the first carrier to launch a Turbo 3G network in the Nordic countries, and now the company wants to be the first to raise the Mbps bar to 21.

Needless to say, the upcoming 21 Mbps network will allow 3 Scandinavia’s subscribers to transfer data and browse the Web at blazing speeds – provided that they have a good handset, of course.

Introducing Mobile Software by UMPC

At CES 2007 show Medion has unveiled its new ultra mobile PC MD RIM 1000. This is one of the first models with Origami Experience interface introduced by Microsoft. I’d note that UMPC of the last year featured similar form and dimensions and now everything is getting different. For example, the UMPC by Medion is equipped with a 6.5” display. It is peculiar for variety of input methods – the stylus or the finger with the touchscreen or the keyboard. The release is set for the end of January. Most likely we’ll see the device under different brands, as it is released on the OEM-basis.

Panasonic FOMA N703iμ

Today Japan’s mobile service provider NTT DoCoMo has introduced its new mobile phone lineup of the 7-series. These inexpensive, but stylish phones will be released under 703 index, with FOMA N703iμ by NEC in it. The phone is peculiar for its thickness – just 11.4 mm, the current record for W-CDMA 3G phones.

The phone has an external LED indicator in the top part, which is a good alternative to an external display. Besides there is an SD audio player and quick access (“8” button) to hide info function, which protect info from unwanted looks by reducing viewing angles.
